NCT's 2018 Annual General Meeting

Come to our AGM in October and have your say on an important vote affecting midwives across the country

NCT’s 30th Annual General Meeting (AGM) will take place on Saturday 13 October at Central Hall Westminster, London SW1H 9NH. This will be a chance to hear about our achievements in 2017-18 and our plans for the future.

At the AGM, you’ll be able to hear from our guest speaker, Dr Tracey Cooper MBE, Head of Midwifery at Warrington and Halton Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. It is open to all NCT members, and will also include coffee and lunch. Entry is free but please register if you plan to attend so we can make suitable catering requirements.

Vote on an exciting opportunity to support midwives

At the AGM, you will have the opportunity to make a very important vote to help midwives across the country.

The Midwives Information & Resource Service (MIDIRS) provides midwives with up-to-date pregnancy and birth related information. This is through a quarterly journal, newsletter, social media and reference database.

To increase its reach from around 2,000 midwives and midwifery students at NCT to over 46,000 members of the Royal College of Midwives (RCM), NCT’s Board proposes to transfer MIDIRS to the RCM. To do this would require a change to NCT’s Articles by removing Article 16.4. At this year’s AGM, there will be an opportunity to vote for the transfer.

Watch the video below where Cathy Ashwin, Head of MIDIRS and Caroline Flint, NCT Trustee, explain why they think transferring MIDIRS to the RCM is such a good opportunity and why it’s so important you vote.
