NCT has launched a new five-year strategy to support every parent through their unique experiences of pregnancy, birth, and early parenthood.
We’ve been busy at NCT and we’ve got some big news to share! Today, we’re launching our new charity strategy, For Every Parent.
For Every Parent is a bold five-year plan that sets a clear direction for our charity to reach more people, do more to support new and expectant parents, and campaign with impact.
It’s the result of many months of engagement and collaboration across our entire community, co-created with over 1,500 parents, members, volunteers, practitioners, students, staff, and partner organisations. We’ve held focus groups and workshops, listened to stories and experiences, and tested the messages and language with parents to create a plan for our future.
A big part of the For Every Parent strategy is a refreshed vision and mission for NCT:
Our vision is that everyone who becomes a parent feels confident, connected, and safe because we believe parents help build the foundations of the future.
We are the charity that supports people as they become parents.

NCT exists to support every parent through pregnancy, birth, and early parenthood, regardless of age, ability, gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity, race, beliefs, and social or financial circumstances. We’re here for you no matter what your relationship status is, how you became a parent, or which parenting decisions you make. No exceptions.
Being there for everyone who becomes a parent means tackling the top challenges facing parents today head on – overstretched maternity services, disparities in quality of care, postnatal support in crisis, and the rising cost of living.
We know getting this right will have far-reaching benefits for parents and our whole society.
For Every Parent sets out our vision for the future and builds on our proud heritage – over 65 years of achievements by committed NCT members, volunteers, practitioners, breastfeeding counsellors, doulas, and campaigners, as well as our partners who have supported our vision.
Together, we will work towards our vision – that everyone who becomes a parent feels confident, connected, and safe.

Our refreshed vision and mission will act as our north star and the starting point for all our work. Keeping focussed on these goals will ensure we deliver real impact for parents.

We’ll continue to connect, inform, and support parents through our antenatal and postnatal courses, bringing people together to share information and experiences of pregnancy, birth, and life with a new baby. Our peer support programmes will be there for parents who may be under-served by society or who are experiencing challenges with mental health, social isolation, or other unmet needs.
We’ll keep hosting thousands of community-based events across the UK each year and we remain committed to providing access to evidence-based information through our website, Parent Hub, and free Infant Feeding Support Line 365-days a year, so parents can make informed decisions that feel right for them.
This week we’re sharing For Every Parent with the world, along with our refreshed vision, values, and our commitment and plan to be there through every unique journey of pregnancy, birth, and early parenthood.
